Glenn Phillips is injured and Bracewell takes his position for Zimbabwe's maiden Test match.

Image
Bracewell is currently in Zimbabwe as a member of the T20I team, but he was initially unable to play in the two-Test series because of his obligations with the Southern Brave in The Hundred. He was an obvious choice to cover Phillips’s void, according to Rob Walter, the head coach of New Zealand. According to Walter, Michael is the closest like-for-like substitute for Glenn, whose injury created a void in the Test squad. We will be able to maintain the same squad balance thanks to Michael’s experience and skill set. We’re taking advantage of the fact that he’s here with the T20 team and that his availability coincides with the first Test. We’ll decide whether to replace him for the second test when we pass the first one. In order to participate in The Hundred, Bracewell will return to the Southern Brave following the first Test.

Performing an inside-edged reverse sweep onto his right foot, Rishabh Pant retires injured.

Image
On the opening day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Rishabh Pant suffered a serious foot injury that forced him to withdraw injured and get scans, leaving India hoping for a miracle. Rishabh Pant inside-edged an attempted reverse sweep off Chris Woakes onto his right (front) foot, causing his foot to swell and giving him a pained appearance. His immediate swelling and incapacity to bear any weight on the foot were concerning signs for India, but he survived the LBW shout and the review that followed. India's vice-captain and wicketkeeper, Pant, needs a golf-style cart to help him leave the field after receiving on-field medical care. Captain Shubman Gill visited him at the ground medical center after he was transferred there, and he later had scans at a hospital. Although England spinner Liam Dawson expressed his best wishes for Pant, he "can't see him playing much more part in this game." The pain his partner was in was explained by B. Sai Sudharsan, who was...

Three changes: India gives debut to Kamboj, England bowls

Image
Shubman Gill said that when England captain Ben Stokes took his fourth consecutive win and put India in to bat, the combination of a good batting pitch and poor overhead conditions made it a "good toss to lose" in Manchester. No team has ever won a Test match after choosing to bowl at Old Trafford, but Stokes believes his team can break that record. "There are pretty decent overhead conditions for bowling," he stated at the toss. A typical Manchester pitch has some grass cover and is quite firm. He hopes they can use it well this morning. India made three changes, two of them were forced, and gave Anshul Kamboj, a seamer for the Chennai Super Kings and Haryana, his Test debut. After failing to score 40 in the first three tests, Karun Nair is replaced at No. 3 by Sai Sudharsan, while Shardul Thakur and Kamboj take the place of Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who are injured. As India lost their 14th straight toss in all men's internationals, Gill sai...

Jasprit Bumrah will participate in the fourth Test; Rishabh Pant is expected to stay as well.

Image
India's team selection after their injury issue is starting to take shape, as it has been confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will play in the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford. When asked about India's pace attack, which appeared likely to be disrupted by the injuries to Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj stated in Manchester on Monday, "As of right now, we only know that Jassi [Bumrah] bhai will play." In addition to Bumrah's availability, India had other positive news two days prior to the Test: Rishabh Pant, who had sustained a finger injury at Lord's, recovered from a two-hour training session. Akash Deep's groin ache is still bothering India, and they will give him some time to heal. Specialist batsman Sai Sudharsan is expected to make a comeback to the starting lineup as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who played the second and third Test matches and made an impression at Lord's as the fourth seamer, is now sidelined f...

Nitish Reddy is probably out of the England tour, due to his serious knee injury.

Image
Nitish Kumar Reddy, an all-rounder for India, is expected to miss the rest of the England trip due to a knee injury. According to ESPNcricinfo, Reddy sustained the injury on Sunday while working out in the gym, and scans showed ligament damage. Fast bowlers Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh are also dealing with injuries that may prevent them from playing in the match, which is further setback to India's preparations for the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in Manchester, which begins on July 23. India's team now includes Anshul Kamboj as a seam-bowling replacement. All of this is on top of Jasprit Bumrah only playing in three of the series' five Test matches due to workload management issues. With the players receiving an eight-day break between the third and fourth Tests, India has stated that they are "leaning towards" including Bumrah at Old Trafford, where he played in the first and third Tests. The second and third Test matches were played by...

White-ball series discussions for BCB and ACB have been planned for October 2025.

Image
A white-ball series between the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is being discussed for October. According to Cricbuzz, the three-ODI and numerous T20I series is expected to begin in Dubai in the first half of October because both teams have international commitments in the second half of the month. Afghanistan will tour Zimbabwe at the same time, while Bangladesh will host the West Indies on their home ground for a full-fledged series. In July 2024, Afghanistan was initially slated to host Bangladesh for two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. However, the BCB requested that the tour be postponed, citing workload management. A white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is was then suggested by the ACB for July and August in Greater Noida, but it was also cancelled because the BCB believed the weather there wouldn't be suitable for an international series. "We're talking to ACB about the white-ball series th...

Glenn Phillips will not be joining the tour to Zimbabwe due to a groin injury.

Image
All-rounder Glenn Phillips of New Zealand has suffered a groin injury that will keep him out of the upcoming two-Test series against Zimbabwe and the current T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe, which also involves South Africa. Phillips sustained the injury on July 13 while playing the Washington Freedom in the Major League Cricket (MLC) championship game. According to a NZC statement, he received medical treatment when he arrived in Zimbabwe and it turned out that he would need "a number of weeks" to recover. Tim Robinson will stay with the team for the remainder of the tri-series after being added late to the T20I squad as a stand-in for players who participated in the MLC knockouts. The name of Phillips' replacement in the Test team will be announced soon. Rob Walter, the head coach of New Zealand, stated, "It's obviously disappointing to lose someone of Glenn's calibre," "Like Finn [Allen], we feel a great deal of sympathy for Glenn and his loss ...

James Anderson and Rocky Flintoff were selected as wildcards at the Hundred

Image

The fast bowler has been selected as the Manchester Originals’ wildcard selection pick. He will turn 43 five days before the 2025 edition begins on July 5. The ‘wildcard draft’ rule was instituted by the ECB, allowing teams to add two players to their rosters from individuals who were not selected in the regular player draft. Anderson played domestic T20 cricket this year with the Lancashire Lightning in the T20 Blast for the first time in eleven years. Anderson has already claimed 14 wickets in the eight games of the current competition, including a three-for in his comeback game. “I’m thrilled to be a member of the Manchester Originals team, and I’m really excited for The Hundred,” Anderson remarked of his acquisition. The BCB CEO expects all members attending the ACC meeting.

Image
The annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council is set for July 24 in Dhaka, and Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam stated on Monday that he expects the presence of all members. Aminul rejected all of the rumors and maintained that everything is proceeding according to schedule in terms of holding the ACC AGM. We have never held a significant meeting of the Asian Cricket Council, which is the mother body or governing body of cricket in Asia, Aminul told reporters on Monday. Mohammed Siraj Fined 15% of Match Fee for Aggressive Celebration After Duckett Wicket

Image
In a recent development during the ongoing Test series between India and England, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. The fine comes in the wake of his aggressive celebration following the dismissal of England batter Ben Duckett. The incident took place on Day 3 of the second Test at Lord’s, where Siraj dismissed Duckett with a sharp delivery that induced an edge to the slip cordon. Immediately after the wicket, Siraj was seen charging towards the batter and letting out a fiery celebration that, according to the match officials, crossed the line of acceptable conduct under ICC regulations. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that Siraj had breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This article deals with “using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an inter...

Wanindu Hasaranga ruled out of Bangladesh T20Is with hamstring injury

Image
Wanindu Hasaranga, the legspinner for Sri Lanka, will not play in the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh, which starts on Thursday, July 10, due to a hamstring injury. In the recently finished three-match series, which the hosts won by a score of 2-1, Hasaranga injured his right hamstring while batting in the last ODI against the visitors. Hasaranga will be replaced in the squad for the three-match series by Jeffrey Vandersay, according to captain Charith Asalanka. "We will really miss him (Hasaranga). "In white-ball cricket, he is our superstar," Asalanka declared on Wednesday.

Deepti Sharma leaves Women's Hundred in order to handle her workload.

In order to manage her schedule, Deepti Sharma left the 2025 season after winning London Spirit’s first Hundred title with a straight six in the final at Lord’s last year. The Indian all-rounder, Deepti, is currently in England as part of India’s tour. He has a hectic schedule lately, balancing franchise leagues and duty abroad. Netravalkar and Maxwell set up Freedom's orca demolition

Image
Shimron Hetmyer had led the Seattle Orcas to three consecutive victories, but he was unable to repeat the feat against the Washington Freedom. Before Hetmyer took over, the Orcas hitting lineup had faltered and fallen to five straight losses. Now, they were once again inept, as Hetmyer had a bad day, scoring a meager 82. Freedom completed the chase in just 9.2 overs, moving back up to the second position in the MLC 2025 points table. Shayan Jahangir got out when Freedom won the toss, bowled, and Saurabh Netravalkar hit the first ball. Glenn Maxwell had Aaron Jones’ number in the next over. In the third over, Netravalkar removed Sikandar Raza. Steven Taylor was sent back by Maxwell on the first ball of the fourth. After six overs, Maxwell ended the powerplay by dismissing Kyle Mayers, leaving Orcas at 21 for 5. Netravalkar returned to bowl the 16th and took the wicket of Jasdeep Singh, the ninth of the innings, returning 3–13. Maxwell, who bowled the tenth to conclude, finished with sta...

India wants to defeat England in their first women's T20I series.

Image
India is riding high and will try to defeat England in their first women’s Twenty20 International series when they play the hosts in the third game of a five-match series on Friday. With a record-breaking 97-run loss to England in the series opener and a 24-run victory in Bristol.  The first-ever T20I loss for the England women at the stadium, Harmanpreet Kaur and company have been in scorching form, taking a commanding 2–0 lead. India had defeated England in a single game played at Derby in 2006. Since then, the Women in Blue have lost all of their T20I series against England, both at home and abroad. This impressive display serves as a welcome boost for India as they continue to get used to English conditions, which is an important exercise in the lead-up to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England next year. The Indian unit has operated like a well-oiled machine thus far. In the first innings, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol both assisted with bats. India reached a...

TSK's chance to place in the top two

Image
The Texas Super Kings will play the Washington Freedom in a huge match. With a victory, they will be solidly positioned as one of the favorites to be among the top two. In order to have the insurance policy to make it to the final, all three of the qualified teams are now competing for that slot. However, a defeat for TSK would probably require them to settle for third place, which would mean they would not have any further chances to advance to the knockout stages. They would be further motivated by the San Francisco Unicorns' second straight tournament defeat. A victory over Freedom might propel TSK to the top of the NRR rankings, as all three are on the same points. After that, it will be a battle to the end. This match, however, will not be an easy one. TSK will be facing a team that has won six straight games. After losing the tournament's first match, the reigning champs have been winning a lot of games. They tracked down 221 just days ago, causing TSK to suffer a cru...

Image
Smriti Mandhana, who is rated #1 among players in the ICC ODI rankings for women, defeated England in the opening match of the series with a game-winning 62-ball 112, overcoming Tahlia McGrath to take third place on the T20I table. The England speedster Lauren Bell, who finished 3 for 27, was the other major player following the game. She dethroned India's Renuka Thakur and teammate Sophie Ecclestone to get up to No. 4. In her 149th appearance in the format, Mandhana scored her first T20I century with a score of 112. She also achieved her highest career rating of 771 points. Table-topper Beth Mooney is well away with 794 points, but No. 2 Hayley Matthews is only three rating points ahead and easily within Mandhana's grasp when England India play their second Twenty20 International on Tuesday. Shafali Verma, who made a comeback to India's T20I XI and teamed with Mandhana at the top in the opening match after being dropped in the previous T20I in October 2024, also rose t...
