In DPL T20 South Delhi Superstarz smash Sunrisers Hyderabad’s record

Image
South Delhi Superstarz certainly has did the unthinkable in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20, as the ShikharDhawan-co-owned team bludgeoned 308 runs in their 20 overs against North Delhi Strikers. Witnessing the complete mayhem put up by Priyansh Arya and Ayush Badoni of South Delhi was surreal. The two lads bludgeoned a partnership of 286 runs in just a matter of 99 balls. Due to the batsmen' combined hitting, none of the North Delhi Strikers' bowlers knew where to place their deliveries. Priyansh Arya lit up the Arun Jaitley Stadium with six sixes off left-arm spinner Manan Bhardwaj. Barring PranshuVijayran, none of the North Delhi bowler had an economy rate of under 10. Also, had Siddharth Solanki not leaked just 9 runs off the last over, we could’ve seen the world record set by Nepal take a hit. Thirteen of the 120 balls that were bowled in the first innings went over the boundary ropes, with nineteen of those going for fours. That sums up to 50 sixes and fo

Jasprit Bumrah Stuns Internet with Reply To Tough Batsman Question

Image

In the T20 World Cup 2024, his pace and precision were crucial to helping India win the title. The marquee pacer remains key to the plans of India for winning more ICC trophies in the years to come. Bumrah left everyone stunned when he was asked if he has come across ‘tough’ batters in his career that he was troubled against. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Bumrah was asked “if there is any batsman who he thinks has been tough to bowl to.”  While answering this question, Bumrah said, "Look, I want to give a good answer, but the real factor is that I don’t want anyone to take over me in my head because obviously I respect everyone, but in my head I tell myself that if I do my job well, there’s nobody in the world who can stop me. Devdutt Padikkal has targeted the Duleep Trophy to perform well to warrant his case in red ball format. While DevduttPadikkal faces tough challenge to make it to the India Playing XI owing to the return of KL Rahul, but strong performances in domestic cricket will do him wonders. You don’t get too many opportunities at the highest level. So, it’s important that I continue to score runs and the Duleep Trophy gives me an opportunity for that. Blunt take of Mitchell Starc On Ashes vs Border-Gavaskar Trophy Comparison

Image
The upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, set to begin in November, has been extended to five Tests for the first time in over three decades. This makes it “right on par” with the Ashes series for Australia’s pace star Mitchell Starc. The marquee series between India and Australia was extended by a match this year for the first time since the 1991–92 season.Starc said, “Being five matches now it’s probably right on par with an Ashes series.” Since 2014–15, Australia have failed to lay their hands on the Border Gavsakar Trophy, with India winning four consecutive series including the historic victory in 2018–19 and 2020–21. Starc is not only intent on reversing this trend but also harbours aspirations of a clean sweep, particularly as the series forms a crucial part of the World Test Championship. He said, “We always want to win every game at home and we know India are a very strong team.As we’re placed at the minute we’re the top two teams on the Test ladder… so a very excitin

Indian Bowler Mohammed Shami doesn’t know when he will play for nation again

Image
Three years ago, when Mohammed Shami posted back-to-back updates on his Instagram account, with one of them having the caption: “Ball in hand and obsession in my heart, ready to turn the game,” it gave rise to hopes of seeing him back in action soon. One of the premier pacers of team India was last seen in the blues in the ODI World Cup final against Australia last year. But big question marks about Shami’s comeback were raised when his name didn't feature in any of the four squads announced for the Duleep Trophy. Except captain Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, pacer spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and ace all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, all other prominent Indian cricketers were picked for the prestigious tournament, which the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee believed would act as a precursor to India's home season. It starts with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, followed by three more against New Zealand. The presence of Shami was expected from the Banglades

He revealed that “we are going to make it available for Olympic sportspersons too, like Neeraj Chopra.” During a 15-minute presentation, followed by a 23-minute chat, he also announced plans for a cricket stadium in Varanasi and an NCA in six North-East states and the seventh one in Jammu. With the turmoil that the nation is currently experiencing, are there concerns? In reply, Jay Shah said, None as of now. A new government has just been formed over there. They will surely reach out to us. If they do not, I will surely reach out to them. For us, the Bangladesh series is very important. We will try our best to host it. When he was asked whet

Reliance, Disney face antitrust hurdles in India media merger

Image
Reliance Industries and Walt Disney are facing significant challenges in securing antitrust approval for their $8.5 billion merger of India media assets. The deal, which would create the largest entertainment conglomerate in India, has come under intense scrutiny from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) due to concerns about market dominance and the control over lucrative cricket broadcast rights. In an effort to expedite the approval process, Reliance and Disney have proposed selling off a select number of television channels   fewer than ten, according to Reuters sources close to the matter. These concessions are aimed at addressing concerns about the merged entity’s potential market power, particularly in regional Indian language channels where the two companies hold a significant share. The proposed divestitures are reminiscent of the 2022 attempt by Zee and Sony to create a $10 billion TV giant in India. In that case, the companies offered to sell three TV channels to gain C

After Sri Lanka Shock Rohit Sharma Ready To Pick ‘Different Players’ For ODIs

Image
India cricket team might adopt a 'horses-for-courses' policy after failing to counter the spin-friendly conditions here which led to their first series defeat to Sri Lanka in ODI cricket in 27 years. After losing the final game by 110 runs, a determined Sri Lankan team made the most of the circumstances, using their spinners' sluggish and turning pitches to confuse the Indian batting team and won the three-match ODI series 2-0. Rohit told the media after his team were shot out for 138 in pursuit of 249 in the third ODI here on Wednesday. I don't think our desire to attempt and play various shots is lacking in effort. It is not indicative of their batsmanship that some of these individuals play reverse sweep, paddle, and other such positions. When you play out pitches like this, we need to be extremely clear about our game plan and how to maintain that momentum in our favor. We lost that first game that was tied, and I would say that we lost three times already. &quo

Junaid Khan says, Without Jasprit Bumrah, India’s bowling is zero

Image
Former cricketer of Pakistan Junaid Khan criticized India’s poor bowling performance during their 0–2 defeat in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. On August 7 team India lost the all-important third ODI as Sri Lanka managed to beat their neighbours in a bilateral ODI series for the first time since 1997. During the recently concluded series, the Sri Lankan managed to bowl out India in every game. However, the tourists couldn’t bowl out the Lankan Lions even once. Sri Lanka won the toss on all three occasions and opted to bat first on pitches that kept on crumbling as the games went along. While this turned out to be a huge advantage for their bowlers, it has to be said that their Indian counterparts didn’t look as minacious. Junaid said that India’s bowling attack is “zero” without JaspritBumrah, who was rested for this series. The former Pakistan speedster asked cricket fans whether they agreed with his opinion. Junaid wrote on his official ‘X’, “Would you agree? Without Bu

He remembered a couple of lines from the song that he used to sing and then laugh.” Shikhar and Dhawan are one of the most successful opening pairs in the history of modern-day cricket. The partnership at the top 12th during the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 when Rohit was promoted from

To Stop Professional Sportsmen from Acting as Surrogate Smokers Authorities Request Action from BCCI

Image
To prevent surrogate advertisements of tobacco and alcohol by sportspersons, the Union Health Ministry has urged the BCCI and the Sports Authority of India to take measures, saying they are role models for millions of youth not only in the country but across the world. On Thursday, in a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India President Roger Binny and DG of SAI Sandip Pradhan, Director General of Health Services Dr.AtulGoel said that sportspersons, especially cricketers, are role models for youngsters for promoting a healthy, active, and productive lifestyle. Policies, plans, and directives for advancing cricket (and its governance), including consideration for Indian players and cricket enthusiasts, Goel said, "are placed in the BCCI's care. When well-known celebrities and cricket players appear in stand-in ads for tobacco and/or alcohol-related items during cricket tournaments like the Indian Premier League, it is depressing. With a thoughtful approach to the m

On IPL 2025 participation MS Dhoni keeps mum, say will do whatever’s ‘best for CSK’

Image
Since the team's founding, the renowned wicketkeeper has been its focal point, and he finds immense joy in its success. Dhoni is prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure CSK continues its winning tradition, even if it means playing his final game for the team. A few days ago, a report surfaced indicating that Dhoni and CSK have not made a decision regarding his player participation in the 2025 IPL season. It suggested that although Dhoni would be there in the dugout, he might be present as a mentor instead of a player. The decision was dependent on IPL’s rule regarding retentions. Dhoni would play for at least one more season if CSK were permitted to make five or more retentions; if not, he would retire and take on the role of mentor for the team. Those reports have turned out to be true. MS Dhoni stated at an occasion that he is still unsure about whether or not to play and that his choice currently depends on what the IPL and the franchises decide to consider. "The
