Jaffer on the chances of India's border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia

Former opener of Indian cricket team Wasim Jaffer said on Sunday that if the pace trio of team India, which includes Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami, are able to stay fit for the majority of the series, then the team has an opportunity to win the test series against Australia.

Beginning on November 22 and lasting until November 26, the much-anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy will take place at Perth Stadium with the first test-a-day encounter that will set the tone for the series.

India has won their last two series in Australia, which were held in 2018–19 and 2020–21. While replying to the question office and on the chances of team India for the border Gavaskar trophy this year, Jaffer highlighted the importance of the availability of the pace trio of Bumrah-Siraj-Shami. He also said that Arshdeep Singh could bring a left arm pace option, and the pace sensation of Indian Premier League Mayank Yadav, who set the league on fire with some fine bowling performances, could also be a dark horse contender to play the series.

Jaffer stated, "Team India has a great opportunity for a hattrick down under if Bumrah, Siraj, and Shami stay fit and are able to play most of the series." If Arshdeep is available and fit, he might bring Mayank Yadav's dark horse and a left arm alternative.
