The Pakistan cricket team is finally done with their T20 World Cup 2024 preparation. After playing two T20I series against Ireland and England, respectively, they will now travel to the United States to begin their T20 World Cup campaign on June 6th. According to a report, the Pakistan contingent is due to depart for Dallas in two groups. One group will have 19 members, including cricketers, coaches, and support staff; the other group will have 9 members. Just two countries, including Pakistan, will begin their T20 World Cup campaign without engaging in any warm-up matches. They chose to play two T20I series instead, one against England and the other against Ireland. Ireland's three-match Twenty20 International series was won by Babar Azam's team. Despite losing the opening game, they bounced back in time to win the series 2-1. Babar Azam and his team faced a much tougher series in England. Two of the four-match series were washed away by rain, while England won the other t

For the T20 World Cup, Young Afghanistan Side 'Among the Favourites'

Image
A young Afghanistan cricket team with an average age of just 25 has vowed to give audiences back home rare cause for jubilation at the T20 World Cup after a breakthrough performance at the 50-over showpiece. When Afghanistan celebrated their stunning eight-wicket victory against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup in October, Kabul’s skies were raked with fireworks. They finished sixth, ahead of defending champions England, whom they also beat, stoking hopes for the T20 tournament in the United States and West Indies starting on Saturday. 22-year-old Sediqullah Atal said on the phone from their training camp in the West Indies, “In the past, when we would defeat a bigger team, our victory was tagged as an ‘upset’.”. “The word ‘upset’ is no longer in the dictionary, and we are ranked among the favorites,” the left-handed opening batsman said, insisting his team is “no less than anyone.”. Through years of conflict, cricket has been a steady source of passion for Afghanistan.

Ex-England spinner Graeme Swann expressed interest in becoming head coach of India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has started to look out for a new head coach for the men’s Indian cricket team because the time period of Rahul Dravid, who is currently the head coach of team India, is going to end with the conclusion of India’s campaign at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The final match of the event will take place on June 29th. BCCI has already started inviting applications for the role of head coach, with the deadline being May 27. Currently, the former opener of team India, Gautam Gambhir, seems to be the frontrunner for the role among the names that are surfacing, but now the former spinner of the England cricket team, Graeme Swann, has also shown his interest in the role. Swann said, “If India asked me to become their coach, I would do it in a heartbeat. I love this place.” He further said that he was an incredible coach for England when I played; he took us to number one in the world and was the best coach I have played under. India would be lucky to have him.

Dinesh Karthik credits RCB fans above Virat Kohli in his final IPL interview

The career of one of the most important players came to an end with the exit of Royal Challenges Bangalore from the Indian Premier League in 2024. Dinesh Karthik, when he emerged in the Indian cricket scene, was seen as a very talented wicketkeeper-batter. However, with the rise of MS Dhoni, Karthik went into the shadows. But then his persistence paid off, and he made a comeback to the team during the latter stages of his career. In the cash-rich league, he featured for teams like the Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.  But his recent exploits were in RCB colours. In fact, he made a comeback for the 2022 T20 World Cup team on the back of some terrific performances for RCB. Dinesh Karthik said in a video posted by RCB on X, “RCB have been extraordinary. I think RCB basically means the fans. There is nothing else I can think of when I think of RCB. Yes, Virat Kohli is a very, very big name. Very large part of RCB. But I think the fans are even bigger than that. Literally, because

After the loss against RR Faf du Plessis, Points Out Reason

Image
After losing the eliminator match of the Indian Premier League season 2024, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Faf du Plessis, feels that his team needed to score a few more runs to make it a competitive total. However, he praised his team for fighting till the end against Rajasthan Royals in the knockout match. Faf du Plessis said in a post-match presentation, “With the dew coming, we felt we were short with the bat. I thought we were 20 runs shy of a good score. Credit goes to the boys; they fought really well. That’s all you can ask for. If you look at naturally assessing the pitch and conditions, you would say it’s a 180 pitch because it was swinging upfront and was quite slow.” He further added, “To come back like that, six games in a row, takes a lot of heart and character. We weren’t special tonight in terms of pushing those extra 20 runs with the bat.”

In the T20 World Cup, Ricky Ponting backs Virat Kohli to open with Rohit Sharma

Image
Former legendary player of Australia Ricky Ponting reckons the selectors should opt for Virat Kohli to open with Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup. The coach of Delhi backed Kohli to perform well in the marquee tournament, terming him as a player who gave his best in big games. Ponting added that Indian fans were always looking for an excuse to leave the batting virtuoso off the team or to argue that he wasn't as brilliant as the rest. Left-hand hitters are something the selectors don't have a lot of on their team, thus Ponting stated, "They still have a decision to make with Jaiswal in that squad." He continued, "They have to decide with Jaiswal, but I'm pretty sure they'll start with Rohit Sharma and Kohli." "With Virat, it's humorous. He remarked, "I believe that people in India simply always look for an excuse to not choose him or a reason why he might not be as excellent as some of these other men in the T20 game. While conclud
