Rahul Dravid is likely to make an IPL comeback and return to RR as head coach in 2025
Former coach of Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid is all set to return to the IPL circle in 2025. Dravid is reportedly in negotiations to take over as head coach of the Rajasthan Royals. The Karnataka batsman has a lengthy history with RR, having led them as captain and later assumed the role of team mentor. According to a source's remark, RR and Dravid are now in talks, and an announcement regarding this is soon.
Dravid was last associated with RR in 2014 and 2015, playing the role of a mentor. He took over as the side’s captain in the IPL 2012, taking over the responsibility from Shane Warne. Although RR finished in seventh place during his first season as captain, he was able to guide the team into the playoffs the following year, in 2014. Having served as India's U-19 and India A team's head coach, Dravid was connected to the BCCI after 2015. He then became the director at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before becoming the new head coach for India in 2021.
Dravid guided India to their second T20 World Cup victory, capping off a stellar coaching career. With Gambhir replacing Dravid as the new coach, the doors for his return to the IPL are open for the latter.
