Head Coach of Team India Rahul Dravid shoots a final warning shot at impudent Ishan Kishan

India head coach Rahul Dravid has shed some light on the matter of Ishan Kishan. Ishan must play frequently, according to Dravid, in order to be taken into consideration for the team. Dravid went on to say that the player and the board communicate all the time.

Ishan Kishan’s absence from the team has been making headlines for quite some time. The player excused himself midway into the South Africa tour, citing mental fatigue from extra travel and less game time.

Rahul Dravid, after the IND vs. ENG Test in Vizag, said, “Ishan Kishan needs to start playing to be considered for selection; we are in touch with him.”

However, after reaching India, Dravid claimed that he needed to start playing in Ranji Trophy matches to be able to warrant a case for selection. But Ishan Kishan remained missing. He never participated in a single domestic league match for Jharkhand. With the T20 World Cup fast approaching, India’s keeper strength has significantly decreased.

Dravid added, “There’s a way back for anyone and everyone. It’s not that we rule out anybody from anything. I simply don't want to continue working on the Ishan Kishan argument. I've made every effort to clarify. The point was that, you know, he requested a break. We were happy to give him the break, and whenever he was ready... I didn’t say he had to play domestic cricket. I said whenever he’s ready, he needs to play some cricket and come back, and the choice is his.”

“We’re not forcing him to do anything, and we are in touch with him. It’s not that we’re not in touch. He hasn't started playing yet, but we know what it is, right? Therefore, we wouldn't think about it right now since, well, he might not be ready. He decides when he wants to be ready, and we’ve got options, obviously, with Rishabh injured and stuff. Thus, I'm confident that the selectors will consider each choice.”
