Mark Coles Appointed Head Coach of Zimbabwe Women

Zimbabwe Cricket has officially appointed New Zealand coach Mark Coles as the new head coach of the Zimbabwe Women’s national team. The appointment comes after a thorough recruitment process and marks a significant step in Zimbabwe’s efforts to strengthen its women’s cricket program following its recent inclusion in the ICC Women’s Championship.

Coles brings a wealth of international coaching experience, having previously led the women’s teams of Pakistan and Scotland, while also serving in high-performance and coaching roles with Cricket Papua New Guinea and various Australian programs. Zimbabwe Cricket believes his expertise will help build a more competitive side and create a sustainable pathway for future success.

His first assignment is expected to be Zimbabwe Women’s historic five-match T20I series against South Africa Women in Bulawayo. The series will provide an early opportunity for Coles to begin shaping the team as they prepare for upcoming international commitments and their long-term ICC Women’s Championship campaign.

A white-ball series between the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is being discussed for October. According to Cricbuzz, the three-ODI and numerous T20I series is expected to begin in Dubai in the first half of October because both teams have international commitments in the second half of the month. Afghanistan will tour Zimbabwe at the same time, while Bangladesh will host the West Indies on their home ground for a full-fledged series. In July 2024, Afghanistan was initially slated to host Bangladesh for two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. However, the BCB requested that the tour be postponed, citing workload management.
