Injured Rabada Out of Australia ODIs, Test Series Participation in Doubt
South Africa have been dealt a major setback ahead of their home series against Australia, with pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series after suffering a right hamstring injury during training. Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed that the fast bowler is currently undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical team.
The ODI series against Australia is scheduled to take place from September 24 to 30, while the highly anticipated three-match Test series begins on October 9 in Durban. CSA stated that Rabada's availability for the Test matches will depend on his recovery progress, with a final decision expected closer to the start of the series.
According to reports, Rabada could be sidelined for up to 9–10 weeks, raising serious concerns about his chances of featuring in the Test series. His absence would be a significant blow for South Africa, especially considering his outstanding record against Australia and his match-winning performance in the World Test Championship Final, where he claimed nine wickets against the Aussies.
With South Africa aiming to strengthen their World Test Championship campaign, the team will be hoping their premier fast bowler recovers in time for the crucial Tests against Pat Cummins' Australia.
