Jaiswal Replaces Injured Kohli for Afghanistan ODIs

India have drafted in young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal as a replacement for Virat Kohli in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan after the veteran batter was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Kohli reportedly sustained the injury during the IPL 2026 final, forcing the selectors to make a late change to the squad.

Jaiswal, one of India's brightest young talents, now gets a major opportunity in the 50-over format as the team prepares for crucial matches against Afghanistan. The left-handed opener has impressed across formats with his fearless stroke play and consistency, making him a natural choice to strengthen India's batting lineup.

While Kohli's absence is a significant setback, the selectors remain optimistic about his recovery ahead of India's ODI tour of England later this year. The Afghanistan series will be played on June 14, 17, and 20.
