Shelley Nitschke Signs New Three-Year Deal Ahead of T20 World Cup

Australia women’s head coach Shelley Nitschke has signed a three-year contract extension, keeping her in charge until mid-2029, just weeks before the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in England. Under Nitschke’s leadership since 2022, Australia have enjoyed major success, including Commonwealth Games gold in 2022 and the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup title.

The extension comes as a huge confidence boost for Australia ahead of the global tournament, with Cricket Australia backing Nitschke to guide the team through a new era and upcoming major events, including future ICC tournaments and the Olympics.

Despite recent semifinal exits in ICC events, Australia remain one of the strongest sides in women’s cricket, and Nitschke’s continued leadership is seen as key to maintaining their dominance on the world stage.
