Dewald Brevis to Miss RR Clash with Side Strain – CSK Face Early Setback

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered a significant blow ahead of their IPL 2026 opener, with Dewald Brevis ruled out of the clash against Rajasthan Royals due to a side strain. The young South African batter picked up the injury during a training session and will miss the crucial opening fixture.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed that Brevis is currently undergoing rehabilitation, with the franchise hopeful of his return in the early stages of the tournament. However, his absence leaves a noticeable gap in the middle order, especially given his explosive performances in the previous season.

Brevis had emerged as one of CSK’s brightest prospects last season, scoring quick runs and adding firepower to the batting lineup. His injury now adds to the team’s growing concerns, as they are already dealing with multiple fitness issues within the squad.

With the IPL 2026 campaign just getting underway, CSK will need to rely on their bench strength and reshuffle their combination to tackle Rajasthan Royals in the opening encounter. Fans will be hoping for a swift recovery as Brevis remains a key figure in the team’s plans for the season ahead.
