Sophie Molineux Ruled Out of India Series With Back Soreness

Australia all-rounder and newly appointed all-format captain Sophie Molineux has been ruled out of the remainder of the multi-format women’s series against India due to lower back soreness, Cricket Australia confirmed ahead of the second ODI in Hobart.




📌 Molineux featured in the first ODI, bowling five overs before experiencing pain after the match, leading to her absence in the second game and the rest of the series. 


 ðŸ“Œ She has been replaced by all-rounder Nicola Carey in Australia’s squad. 


 ðŸ“Œ Cricket Australia said her fitness will be monitored ahead of the upcoming tour of the West Indies, where she was expected to lead the side across formats. 


 ðŸ“Œ Molineux’s injury adds to Australia’s growing injury list, with key players like Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth also sidelined.

This setback comes at a crucial time as she was set to succeed retiring star Alyssa Healy and take up a leadership role across formats.

White-ball series discussions for BCB and ACB have been planned for October 2025.

A white-ball series between the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is being discussed for October. According to Cricbuzz, the three-ODI and numerous T20I series is expected to begin in Dubai in the first half of October because both teams have international commitments in the second half of the month. Afghanistan will tour Zimbabwe at the same time, while Bangladesh will host the West Indies on their home ground for a full-fledged series. In July 2024, Afghanistan was initially slated to host Bangladesh for two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. However, the BCB requested that the tour be postponed, citing workload management.
