Jemimah Rodrigues Fined ₹12 Lakh After Slow Over-Rate

Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues has been fined ₹12 lakh by the Women’s Premier League authorities after her team was found to have maintained a slow over-rate in their WPL 2026 match against the Gujarat Giants at the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium in Vadodara.

  • The penalty was imposed under the WPL Code of Conduct for minimum over-rate offences, and this was Rodrigues’ first offence of the season.

  • Delhi Capitals lost the match by a narrow three-run margin, which has impacted their standings and slightly dented their playoff hopes.

  • With this result, Delhi slipped to fourth place on the WPL 2026 points table, making their final league game against UP Warriorz on February 1 a must-win scenario.

  • Gujarat Giants posted a competitive total and held their nerve at the end to win by 3 runs, extending their strong performance in the league.

  • The slow over-rate offence occurred despite a tight contest, underlining the importance of time management in T20 cricket.
