KKR Thrash CSK as Dhoni’s Captaincy Return Fails to Inspire
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a humiliating defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their IPL 2025 clash at the Chepauk Stadium on Friday. On MS Dhoni’s return as captain after 682 days, CSK registered their lowest-ever IPL total at home, collapsing to 103/9 in 20 overs. KKR comfortably chased down the target in just 10.1 overs, winning by eight wickets.
The batting woes for CSK began early, with openers Devon Conway and Rachin RachinRavindra struggling. Conway scored a sluggish 12 off 10 balls before falling to Moeen Ali, while Ravindra managed just 4 off 9 deliveries.
The middle order crumbled under pressure, with Dhoni walking in at №9 and scoring only 1 run. Sunil Narine was the star with the ball for KKR, picking up three wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana claimed two each.
KKR’s chase was a mere formality, led by Ajinkya Rahane and Quinton de Kock. Rahane’s unbeaten knock ensured KKR cruised to victory with ease. CSK’s dismal performance highlights their struggles this season, as they remain near the bottom of the points table.
Dhoni’s return as captain brought no respite, leaving CSK with major issues to address in batting and leadership.
