MS Dhoni’s Humorous Response to Deepak Chahar’s Disobedience

Former Chennai Super Kings pacer Mohit Sharma revealed a hilarious incident from the 2019 IPL season involving MS Dhoni and Deepak Chahar. During a match in Chennai, Chahar was struggling with his knuckleball delivery, which was either a full toss or mishit, resulting in a boundary.

Dhoni immediately advised Chahar against using the knuckleball again, to which the young bowler agreed. However, after a few balls, Chahar attempted the delivery once more, only for it to sail over the batter’s head. After the over, Dhoni approached Chahar, placing an arm around his shoulder and speaking to him.



Later, when Chahar’s CSK teammates asked what had transpired, he revealed that Dhoni had shared some choice words, saying “Bewakooftunahihai, bewakoof main hu” in a cheeky manner to convey his message.

Despite his calm exterior, Dhoni is known for his fierce competitiveness and high standards. Mohit, who played under Dhoni’s captaincy from 2013 to 2015 and in 2019, shared that he and other bowlers often faced Dhoni’s wrath for mistakes on the field.

“We’ve got a lot of abuses from him. But he always says, what happens on the field, stays there. Later, he will make you understand but never be angry with you,” Mohit said.

However, Dhoni’s leadership style was always a combination of strictness and care, as he ensured to guide his players after the heat of the moment had passed. Mohit’s anecdote highlights the intense yet affectionate nature of Dhoni’s captaincy, which has led CSK to five IPL titles.
