BCCI Secretary Jay Shah's Big 'Head Coach Revelation'

BCCI secretary Jay Shah said on Monday that the Indian cricket team will have a new head coach from the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka starting later this month, but did not reveal who has been finalized to succeed the outgoing Rahul Dravid. Former opener of team India Gautam Gambhir is expected to succeed Dravid as India head coach.

The high-profile position was interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee, which also shortlisted Gambhir and former India women's coach W V Raman. Additionally, Shah stated that a selector would be appointed shortly. He is in the Caribbean with the Indian team that defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final to win the T20 World Cup on Saturday. Regarding the Zimbabwe tour that starts on July 6, Shah informed the select media that "both coach and selector appointments will be made shortly." After interviewing and shortlisting two names, CAC will make a decision that we will follow once we reach Mumbai.

VVS Laxman is going to Zimbabwe, but a new coach will join the Sri Lanka series.” The Indian cricket team is due to tour Sri Lanka for three T20Is and as many ODIs starting July 27.
