Sehwag questions Pakistan's selection after Amir’s recall, implying favouritism
The former opener of Indian Cricket Team VirendraSehwag has lashed out at the duo of Pakistan cricket team WahazRiaz and Mohammad Amir, who called time on his international cricket career last year, and is currently the chief selector of the Pakistan national men's selection committee. He was appointed to the role in November, which is a few months after Riaz took up the new role.
Amir, who had also given up playing cricket for other countries, returned to the national squad. While highlighting the turn of events, Sehwag questioned the intent of Riaz as the head of the selection committee. Sehwag said during a discussion, “WahazRiaz and Mohammad Amir are the two names who used to give their opinions on Pakistan TV news channels against their national team. Now one of them is a selector, and the other is playing XI. They were criticizing the team once, and now that they have come to power, what are they doing?”
Pointing at Wahaz, Sehwag remarked, "Let's take Amir on the team. He has played with me." This is not possible, the former Indian opener declared. And now that he is the BCCI head of selectors, Viru, Ajit Agarkar would say, 'Come on, Viru, I'll help you make a comeback into the team,' he added. This task remains unfinished. You need to have future vision. Now that you're a selector, you have a task ahead of you. Make responsible use of it; don't ask favors.
