Indian Cricket Team’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, to be interviewed today as the sole applicant
The former cricketer of Team India, Gautam Gambhir, is set to appear for an interview today for the prestigious role of head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. Remarkably, Gambhir is the only candidate who applied for the position.
As per the report, the interview will be conducted by the Cricket Advisory Committee over a Zoom call. The current head coach, Rahul Dravid, will step down after the ongoing T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India had invited applications for Dravid’s successor in mid-May, with the deadline set for May 27, the day following the IPL final.
Gautam Gambhir, who is also the mentor for the IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders, brings a wealth of experience and success from his playing and mentoring roles. His candidacy will be evaluated by the CAC, which comprises former cricketers Ashok Malhotra, JatinParanjpe, and SulakshanaNaik.
Following the interviews, the CAC will make their recommendations to the BCCI, which will then make the final announcement.
