After Rohit Sharma injury scare in nets BCCI raises ‘unofficial’ complaint to ICC over pitch
The preparations of Indian cricket team for their crucial T20 World Cup match against Pakistan have been disrupted by a fresh injury concern for captain Rohit Sharma and concerns about the practice pitch in New York.
On Friday, while Rohit Sharma was practicing at Cantiague Park, a short distance from New York City, he took a blow on the thumb from bowling expert coach Nuwan. This incident occurred only a few days after an arm injury forced him to leave the game against Ireland. While the BCCI has not confirmed the severity of the injury, Rohit was attended to by a physiotherapist and his participation in the upcoming match vs Pakistan remains uncertain.
The Rohit Sharma incident has brought attention to issues with the New York practice pitch. Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, reportedly struggled to bat because of the wicket's irregular bounce. These worries stem from low-scoring game between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the tournament's major venue, Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, which sparked doubts over the tournament's use of drop-in pitches.
