Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup exit vs South Africa Michael Vaughan blames India’s scheduling
Former captain of team England Michael Vaughan has sparked controversy by suggesting the T20 World Cup schedule might have disadvantaged Afghanistan in their semi-final defeat to South Africa. Afghanistan’s dream run in the T20 World Cup came to a crashing end as they were bundled out for a meager 56 runs in the first semi-final against South Africa.
Afghanistan was unable to counteract as South Africa's bowlers took advantage of the circumstances. Michael Vaughan expressed his worries about Afghanistan's difficulties on social media. He cited a major airline delay that caused them to miss their semi-final departure from Trinidad. They were at a disadvantage because of the delay since they had less time to prepare and get used to the new location.
Michael Vaughan went on to question the schedule's fairness, speculating that it might have given priority to the timings of Indian viewers above maintaining a competitive edge. He maintained that Guyana ought to have hosted the semi-final in order to avoid interfering with Afghanistan's travel and preparation schedule.
